The history of Backstreet
Backstreet was formed in 1985 by Keith Oliver, Roger Miller, and Jeff Pardue. Randy Gambill soon joined up, and the four of us were the nucleus of Backstreet for many years. In 2016, we had to say goodbye to Keith, who lost his battle with cancer. Still, Keith's influence is felt in many of the songs we perform, and we all acknowledge that our band would not exist had it not been for Keith.
Backstreet is a true Americana Band, playing all the musical genres that Americana implies. We love all music that is good, and we enjoy the stimulation that comes from a wide variety of music.
Having been together for so long, our musical repertoire is large, and we will tailor our performance sets to fit our audience. Sometimes we're hired to play bluegrass all night. Sometimes we're hired to play all Celtic music. But most often, we're hired to play our eclectic blend of Americana genres. Something for everyone, so to speak.
Want something less than the full band?
Very often, we get calls for one, two, or three musicians to perform. Sometimes these smaller acts fit the situation better than the full band. We are comfortable providing any number of musicians or even a solo act to provide the live music for which Backstreet is known. Whether it's a one-man show, a 4-piece Americana Band, or a 5-piece Bluegrass Band, Backstreet always delivers a professional act.
